Like many projects, it became bigger than we ever imagined, but we’re very proud of the result. ’ – Peter Young, Director

For over a decade, Matakana has been the destination of choice for Auckland foodies. Alongside the stunning beaches and rural vistas, the region attracts visitors year-round to the famous Matakana Village Farmers’ Market, and world class restaurants, wineries, and galleries, all just one hour north of the city.

This book was borne of our love of this place, and we invite you to share favourite recipes and entertaining tales from the growers you’ll meet at the market, the chefs who serve up mouthwatering dishes in local restaurants or locals you’ll see at the beach.

The Village Table is more than a cookbook – it’s an invitation into our community, and a treasured keepsake for anyone who loves Matakana. The book has been produced entirely by a group of dedicated volunteers, with recipes submitted from our community. All profits go to Matakana School.

Whether you’re a local or a visitor to Matakana, we invite you to join us at The Village Table.
